Last night was the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower for 2017, and are you silly? Of course I’m going to go check it out! Space photos are always some of my favorite to take, first, because of how awesome the photos turn out, and second, because of the puzzle-like aspect of trying to figure out the right camera settings to get just the right photo in camera! What is the best aperture/shutter speed combo with the right ISO? All things that have to be considered. I like to think that my background in film photography helps me understand the process of blending the trifecta together. Here are some photos I took! Enjoy them and answer the poll at the end!
I think that’s a meteor on the right side!
It’s crazy to think that each tiny dot of light could be an entirely different dimension!
Shooting meteor or is it just a plane? I think it’s just a plane, but on the LCD screen I thought I captured a pretty awesome one!
The Milky Way was out and bright!
Here is another example of planes that look like shooting meteors. On the LCD screen I could only see the 3 lines going across the photo and thought WOW! I captured something super awesome. When I got home and reviewed them on my computer you can clearly see the red strobe light flashing. It’s still a neat photo, just not what I was hoping would be going across the photo! If you think about it, that’s how far each plane flew in 30 seconds!
